Anxiety Arises Because Of Frequent Late Nights

Anxiety Arises Because Of Frequent Late Nights - Everyone would have felt anxiety. Anxiety and stress can be triggered by many things, ranging from personal problems, work, and others. But who would have thought that the schedule of sleep can also affect a person's sense of apprehension.

A recent study revealed that people who often stay up late or sleep tended to be less prone to anxiety than those who sleep on time. Results of research conducted by researchers from the Cognitive Therapy and Research at Binghamton University found that delayed sleep can trigger negative thoughts.

The study, headed by psychologist Jacob A. Memorandum was conducted on 100 participants. They were asked to answer questions about the schedule sleep and anxiety felt. On average, participants sleep at 1am, some sleep at 10 pm, and others sleep at 5 am, as reported by the NY Mag.

Once analyzed, the researchers found that people who stay up late and sleep often have negative thoughts and prone to anxiety. The longer the delay sleep, the more often they are repeated negative thoughts in their minds. High anxiety are also found in people who are sleep deprived.

So what causes sleep schedule associated with anxiety? This is due to lack of sleep will affect parts of the brain called the prefrontal cortex. Part of the brain is sensitive to the lack of sleep and associated with negative thoughts. However, researchers are still not really sure if the lack of sleep that triggers negative thoughts or even vice versa. It may be that both are interrelated cycles and influence each other.
